About Comprehensive Eye Care
The office of Brady M. Palmer, OD, provides eye care for both vision and eye conditions. In addition to testing your ability to see clearly, our optometrist checks the eye and retina for signs of eye diseases.
A diabetic eye exam is included for patients who are diagnosed with diabetes or have early indicators of diabetic retinopathy. During a comprehensive eye exam, the blood vessels in the eye and the optic nerve are all reviewed.
Who Needs Comprehensive Eye Care
According to the American Optometric Association, infants should begin comprehensive eye care with an exam at six months old. From there, children need to see an optometrist every six months to two years throughout childhood. If your child has an eye care emergency, such as a torn retina or a foreign object in their eye, they will need to see our eye doctor as soon as possible.
By the time of adulthood, individuals need an eye exam every one to 10 years. The schedule depends on whether the patient has vision correction concerns or age-related vision loss. In addition, adults with certain chronic health conditions like diabetes will need to see an optometrist every year.
